Jesus is resting by the well after a long journey while his disciples go into town to buy food. It is the middle of the day. A woman comes to draw water from the well and Jesus asks her to give him some water to drink. She is surprised because a Jewish man wouldn’t normally talk to a Samaritan woman.
Jesus talks to the woman about living water, spiritual fulfilment. He says that anyone who drinks this living water will have eternal life. Jesus knows all about her private life, which convinces her that he must be a prophet. She asks about worship, and Jesus reveals his identity as Messiah to her. She becomes like an evangelist and goes off to share the good news with the whole town. Because of her witness, many people come to hear Jesus speak and many people become Christians.
Jesus is on the shore to pray. He sends his disciples onto the dark lake. Early the next morning, they are a long way offshore when the wind and waves come up. Jesus appears walking on water. The disciples are scared that he might be a ghost. Jesus tells them not to be afraid, and calls Peter. Peter walks out, but then panics and starts to sink. Jesus saves him. The disciples recognise that Jesus is the son of God.
Jesus takes three of his disciples, Peter, James and John up to a mountaintop to pray. Jesus begins to shine with bright rays of light, his face and clothes radiant. Then Old Testament figures Moses and Elijah appear with him, and he speaks with them. Then they are covered by a cloud, and Jesus is called the Son by the voice of God the Father, who says to listen to Jesus. The disciples are initially afraid and fall in terror at God’s voice, and Jesus says not to be afraid, and they look up to see only Jesus.

Jesus and his disciples were gathered in Jerusalem to celebrate the Passover. Jesus knew that he was about to die, and that Judas would betray him. He decided to show his love to his friends (even Judas) by washing their feet, which was normally the job of a slave or servant, to make them clean before they shared the Last Supper together. Peter was bothered by Jesus acting like a slave, but Jesus said that no master is better than his servant, and that the disciples should follow his example of humility and service.

Genesis 1 tells the story of creation and begins to reveal to us the Creator. The creation account should help us to regard with awe God’s wisdom, power and goodness. First there is nothing. Then suddenly, out of nothing, God creates light, seas and land, sun and stars. Out of the ground God forms intricately designed animals and intelligent human beings. God simply speaks and things begin to exist. What an amazing and powerful God. The world is created for human beings to enjoy, but also to take care of and appreciate.
